You can never go wrong on burrito. It is like a complete meal already because it is made up of meat, vegetables, and rice then wrapped in a tortilla. Army Navy not only serves burritos, but also burgers, fries, soup, tacos, and fried chicken. With their slogan/ mission: "Come in hungry, walk out happy" is surely mission accomplished to all diners.

We've dined here for a couple of times already and what we've order were the following: Steak Burrito (Php195), Carnitas (Pork) Burrito (Php185), Double Burger (Php220), Freedom Fries (Php75), and Libertea (Php75 for a large cup). The Freedom Fries tasted like McDonald's twister fries only cut into shoestring size. Libertea is said to be a freshly brewed iced tea.

Food is fulfilling, it's just that the service is slow. But I really enjoyed my food.

SHE SAID:
Burrito is love. But it can easily make you feel full even if you're just about halfway done on your burrito. I think the service gets slower as the closing time gets nearer. Are there were times when the staff seems to be unfriendly, when you are about to order, instead of greeting you, she's just stare at you and wait for you to speak up your order.

8 Street Bites

Location: Sky Garden SM City North EDSA

When we first saw the place, we thought it wasn't something we would like to try, but we checked out the menu board outside and it seems like a lot of stuff to choose from. To date, we've been here thrice and looks like we won't get tired of eating because there's still a lot on the menu that we haven't tried.

Upon entering this place, on the left is a freedom wall where you can write or post something. Servers will welcome you with a genuine smile despite serving meals to other diners. When you are seated, they will give you a menu for you to contemplate on what to order while seated, and will advise you to place your orders on the counter. Serving time make take few minutes but your food is served fresh and hot. A house water is served automatically on your table, as well as the utensils will be place on your table. And when your orders are all complete, they would ask you if you need anything else, such as ketchup, mayonnaise, hot sauce or mustard.

Their menu is divided into different categories such as Share A Bite, Texas BBQ, Pasta Lane, 8 Street Burger Zone, No Bone Thrown, Drinks, and Sweet Bites. Share A Bite is basically the appetizer. Texas BBQ comprises the rice meals and barbecued beef parts (sorry, we haven't tried anything from this category so we could not really expound more; we will, next time). Pasta Lane is everything pasta, you have quite a number of choices. 8 Street Burger Zone caters to your burger craving; the burger patties are grilled upon ordering so it's still hot when served. No Bone Thrown are all boneless meal (fish fillet or chicken fillet) served with the following choices: street rice, mashed potato, or fries. Drinks have milk shakes, and blended iced tea to name some. Sweet Bites will satisfy your sweet tooth; they have pannacottas, banofee pie, and french toasts.

This is where your table number goes. And a view of what they offer for dessert.

Their Freeway Nachos are to die for. We will always add their Freeway Nachos to the menu because it's overloaded with yummy toppings such as cheese sauce, salsa, and kidney beans to name some. For only Php98, this appetizer will get you going. For the same price, they also have Freeway Fries, loaded with the same toppings as that of Freeway Nachos. But between the fries and the nachos, we will still pick the nachos.

Their burgers are amazing, and made from real beef. They are juicy and melts in your mouth. He definitely enjoyed the Street Bites Double Burger (Php268). Cheese Supreme Burger is tummy-filling too at the price of Php178. You want a burger and barbecue at the same time? Try their BBQ Burger. Beef burger patty served with this yummy tangy barbecue sauce at Php178.

Pasta. Oh pasta. As she is a past lover, she is bound to take a try on their pasta. But there were so many choices she didn't know what to choose. In the end, settled for Sausage Bolognese Pasta (Php158). Their sausage has the right mixture of spiciness and saltiness. Eaten together with the pasta, everything is of the right combination.

We've also tried the Fish Fillet with Pepper Blue Cheese served with Fries (Php148). She actually wanted to try their mashed potato, but they ran out of mashed potato so she settled with fries to go with her fish fillet. The fish fillet was cooked perfectly-- not too soggy and it was flavored correctly. Together with the fries, they were properly drained so they weren't oily when they were served. The fries was also flavored well that you couldn't taste anything bland or oily. The pepper blue cheese dip was done perfectly, the spiciness was infused nicely to the blue cheese. The amount of the fillets served was generous, enough to make you full.

The country fried chicken steak (Php148) was also cooked perfectly and was not oily when served. The chicken strips were served with mushroom gravy on top. And just like the fish fillet, there was a generous number of strips served.

There is also a number of choices for the drinks. What we've ordered on the three visits were the following: House Blended Iced Tea (Php48), Salted Oreo Milk Shake (Php78), Salted Caramel Milk Shake (Php78), Salted Chocolate Milk Shake (Php78), and Frostea (Php48).

My Singapore Food Street

Location: SM Megamall, 2nd Level Bridgeway

If you have been to Singapore, there would be a part of you that would be craving their food when you get back here in the country. And this restaurant is bound to answer your Singaporean food craving. But don't get me wrong, even if you haven't been there, you would really be tempted to try their food as the menu board photos are mouthwatering.

My Singapore Food Street has a lot of food choices on their menu that you would want to try them all, only if you could. The restaurant interior wants to make you feel like at Singapore since there's a replica of the famous Merlion.

Since we both have been to Singapore but on different times, we are excited to try this. She has eaten here for quite number of times already with her family, therefore she really recommends eating here. While he got to try this for the first time. However, the time they ate here together became a big disappointment for her as the quality of food and service wasn't the same as her previous visits to this restaurant.

The Verdict
HE SAID:
Food has good taste, affordable price. Despite the good taste, the roasted chicken style is COLD. No effort was given on its plating; dump in the rice, place slices of chicken on top, and that's it. Also, the staff is not accommodating, its like their friendliness and efficiency goes down as closing time sets in.

SHE SAID:
How they served us was really a big disappointment to me. Imagine that, when the server placed my prawn mee noodle, he immediately placed another noodle soup in front of us that we did not order and took our number without even asking if our orders' complete and scurried away. We had to shout just to get his attention to tell him that we did not order the other noodle soup. And how the food was served differs from what was in their photo. After this experience, I don't know if I will give this restaurant another chance.

Reyes Barbecue

Mad about grilled food? Try Reyes Barbecue. They have grilled fish, pork, squid, and chicken. But there are also other dishes such as pork sisig, grilled hamburger, and soup. But mainly everything is grilled. This is then partnered with java rice, and their famous peanut sauce. True to their slogan "Barbecue. Peanut Sauce. Java Rice. Best way to go!", it sure is the best way to go. Their blending is just so perfect that you would want to pour all the peanut rice on your rice. But serving of the peanut sauce is just little, you have to purchase extra sauce. But if you can't really get enough of it, you can buy a jar of their sauce! That way, you may still enjoy it when you are at home.

What we ordered were the following: 1/4 Boneless Chicken Meal (Php170), Whole Liempo Meal (Php240), Pork Sisig (Php145). Additional Java Rice costs Php35. It is kinda confusing with prices because the mentioned liempo was bought at Megamall, but the one in Landmark food court costs only Php175, but both of them are whole liempo and served with java rice.

The Verdict
HE SAID:
The food is delicious and the serving is okay. However, I was not satisfied with the plating; the rice instead of holding its molded shape, crumbled when we started walking towards a table. And the rice is also cold.

SHE SAID:
Liempo is heaven. It is more heavenly than heaven when dipped in the peanut sauce. I wish there's an unlimited peanut sauce. Hahaha! The meat is tender and juicy although some part of it seems tough to chew on. The pork sisig is good. I just wish it's a little less oily. On their rice, I hope they are always hot when served; the one from Megamall wasn't warm/hot when served... Or maybe is it because it's nearly closing time when we ordered?

Chicken Deli

Location: SM City North EDSA Annex

Wherever you go nowadays, you'll see chicken inasal restaurants, with their promo of eat-all-you-can-rice, and Chicken Deli is one of them. But what sets this restaurant aside from the other inasal restaurants is their wide range of menu.

Other than the chicken inasal under CD Meals (served with free soup), there is Lechon Kawali, Liempo, and Sizzling Bangus to name some. They also have Merienda menu that consists of Pancit Canton, Ginataang Halo-Halo, Spaghetti, Goto, Chicken Burger, and Batchoy. Pampagana menu consists of Bacolod Express, Kangkong with Garlic, Talong with KBS, and Binagoongang Kangkong. They also have desserts such as Halo Halo (called as Halo Deli), Mais con Hielo (called Mais con Deli), Leche Flan, Sago't Gulaman, and Turon Sticks.

Chicken Deli also has a menu called Fiesta Meal, where one viand is said to be good for 2 pax already. Choices are Kare Kare, Lechon Kawali, Sizzling Bangus, Sinigang na Bangus, Squid Sisig, and Pork Sisig.

This was our 2nd time to eat at this restaurant, and as he is a chicken lover, he ordered Pechopak-- shortened Pecho and Pakpak or Breast and Wing parts (Php112), Kangkong with Garlic (Php39), and Leche Flan (Php49), while she ordered Lechon Kawali (Php 119).

The Verdict
HE SAID:
I love the food, however the chicken is of small portion. The leche flan is good. Their chicken oil is tasteless. Also they have no available bottomless iced yet it is still written on their menu. The place is clean, you can see the kitchen/grilling area that is separated by a glass.

SHE SAID:
The lechon kawali is tender and has the right proportion of the fat and the meat. However, I do not like their chicken oil; it tastes weird. The kangkong with garlic is okay, I guess it just had too much garlic. What disappointed me is that they still don't have bottomless iced tea!
